FIND

FIND (Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics) is an international non-profit organization that enables the development and delivery of much-needed diagnostic tests for poverty-related diseases, including tuberculosis, malaria, HIV/AIDS, sleeping sickness, hepatitis C, leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, Buruli ulcer, febrile illnesses and infectious diseases with outbreak potential, such as Ebola. FIND acts as a bridge between experts in technology development, policy, and clinical care, reducing barriers to innovation and effective implementation of diagnostic solutions in low- and middle-income countries.

FIND has active collaborations with more than 200 partners, including research institutes, academia, health ministries, and disease control programs, commercial partners, the World Health Organization (WHO), bilateral and multilateral organizations, and clinical trial sites. Since its inception, FIND has partnered in the delivery of 21 new diagnostic tools, including ten for tuberculosis, and has created an enabling environment for numerous others through the provision of specimen banks, reagent development, connectivity platforms, and better market visibility. FIND’s work in these areas reflects a willingness to address market entry barriers for diagnostics globally. FIND also supports the appropriate use of diagnostics in many countries through training programs, quality assurance programs, and laboratory strengthening work.

FIND’s vision: A world where diagnosis guides the way to health for all people

FIND’s mission: Turning complex diagnostic challenges into simple solutions to overcome diseases of poverty and transform lives

Main tasks attributed in the A-PATCH project:

  • Participate and contribute to WP1, WP2, WP4, WP5, WP6, WP7, WP8
  • FIND will have a key role in guiding smart sensor technology, connectivity, and service development to ensure the products meet published TB target product profile (TPP) specifications.
  • Furthermore, given our expertise in eHealth with the Connected Diagnostics Initiative, FIND will take the lead on the health technology commutability assessment.
  • FIND will also draw upon their vast experience in the field of TB diagnostics development and deployment to assess the market for the A-Patch technology and guide business development if the technology is found to meet TPP specifications and performance targets.

Dr. Emmanuel Moreau
Senior scientific officer, technology development
Dr. Emmanuel Moreau joined FIND in February 2018 as Scientific Officer – Technology Development. He has extensive experience in all aspects of the IVD-labeled immunoassay life cycle, having spent a decade working for major clinical diagnostics companies such as bioMérieux (France) and Philips Handheld Diagnostics (The Netherlands). As an R&D technical lead, he developed several immunoassays for benchtop instruments used in central labs as well as point-of-care devices for patient bedside testing. Emmanuel’s expertise includes assay feasibility (raw materials development, prototyping), design and implementation (optimization, transfer to manufacturing), verification & validation of performance, providing support for clinical trials, securing regulatory compliance and contributing to market access with commercial teams. Emmanuel holds a Ph.D. in Immunology from Université Paris 5 – René Descartes (France), completed by post-doc experiences at INRS Institut Armand-Frappier and McGill University (Montréal, Canada). His academic research focused on host immune response to HIV and HCV infection and early development of a nanofluidics immunoassay platform for breast cancer biomarkers profiling.
